United Way of Pierce County is the Principal Combined Fund Organization (PCFO) for the CFC of South Puget Sound.

The PCFO is the charitable organization selected by the Local Federal Coordinating Committee (LFCC) to administer the
local campaign. The PCFO operates under the direction
and control of the LFCC.

In 2008, the CFC of South Puget Sound launched it's first annual "Sound Hero" Award that went to the campaign volunteer that went beyond the call of duty in their efforts so others have the opportunity to give not to but through the CFC.

If you know of someone deserving recognition for the 2009 campaign, please download the nomination form and submit it to your agency's coordinator or a Loaned Executive, or fax it to 253-597-7481, Attn: CFC Director. NLT January 7, 2010.

The top 3 nominees will be invited to attend the recognition reception at United Way of Pierce County's Community Celebration April 21, 2009 at the Greater Tacoma Convention & Trade Center where the winner will be announced and receive the award. The local campaign winner will also be nominated for the National CFC Unsung Hero's Award, where all winners are invited to Washington D.C. for a ceremony in the historic Eisenhower Executive Building (EEOB).
